DANA CUP

July 20 - 26, 2008

"Come Meet The World" in Hjorring, Denmark

The Dana Cup is played on a Complex with 20+ beautifully-groomed grass fields and another 25 outlying fields just as good. The tournament headquarters is the clubhouse of the best ladies club in Europe, FORTUNA. Adjoining the fields are the meal halls (the Vendia Hall and two large tents) and the carnival and disco sites. The town is about twenty minutes walk and there is even a McDonalds in the town which is not far from the Stadium.

ALL Teams booked through STI will be accommodated at the inner schools. Out of about 25,000 people, only about 3,000 are accommodated in these boy's and girl's schools. ALL OTHER TEAMS will have about a 05 - 30 minute shuttle bus each way. It is a significant advantage to be housed at the inner schools for this reason. You can easily walk back to your school if you want to rest and you don't need to carry everything around with you the whole day! The girl's schools are located near the stadium while the boy's schools are next to the departure street for the shuttle busses to the outlying fields. Either way, you are next to the Dana Cup site!

Games are also played at the outlying fields with free motorcoach shuttle service to these schools. These motorcoaches depart in front of the Handelskolen about every fifteen minutes, the school where most of our boys teams are accommodated. Adults are normally accommodated in the two-bedded rooms (with private toilet and shower) at the Technical School, about 100 yards from the Handelskolen, but there are also hotels available in the town and at the beach.

The DANA CUP is a mini-Olympic village with players from around the world competing and getting to know each other. There is an excitement that cannot be described with so many nationalities so close together for so long. The national and club songs and chants at the games or in the eating halls, the accents and diverse peoples of the world make it all special because it all happens at one big site. YOU REALLY FEEL PART OF THE EXCITEMENT because it happens around you, WITH you and BECAUSE of YOU!
